Tasting Notes
Unbridled notes of cherry, plum and raspberry on the palate with the French oak nicely
integrated in the background with a hint of cigar box.,vanilla, and espresso.on the finish.
Pairing:
Pair with pepper steak, roast beef or a hearty winter stew.
Winemaking:
SKAHA Vineyard Equus is Sue and Gerry’s personal selection of their
finest barrels of Cabernet Franc (50%) and Merlot (50%) . This blend is
barrel aged for 24 months in French Oak. Grapes were harvested by hand,
destemmed , cold maceration of 3 days. Wild yeast fermentation allowed
to warm up to 28C during primary fermentation with regular punch downs
to extract maximum flavour and colour. Pressed and transfered to French oak
barrels then goes through MLF and aged for 24 months . Unfiltered and unfined.
Viticulture:
SKAHA Vineyard is nestled above Skaha Lake in the beautiful
Okanagan Valley. Steep slopes of shale and fossilized sandstone
with lake influences encourage our vines to concentrate flavours
in the ripening grapes resulting in elegant, fruit forward wines.

SKAHA Vineyard 2016 Rogue Madeira Port Style
Tasting Notes
A fortified (Madeira style) estate merlot with rich amber colour, a silky smooth mouth feel along with aromas and flavours of butterscotch, raisin, ripe cherry and nut.
Pairing: Pair with Stilton cheese, dark chocolate or a butter tart.
Winemaking:
Hand picked, late harvest Merlot grapes, are whole cluster pressed and then fermented in stainless steel. Alcohol, distilled from our Merlot lees, is added before the fermentation is complete killing the yeast and leaving the desired level of residual sugar behind. The Rogue was then aged in neutral, French oak barrels for 24 months, and the barrels are put outside in the sun to give it the unique flavours of butterscotch, raisin and nut and a beautiful deep tawny colour.

Our Merlot Icewine is crafted from 100% estate grown Merlot grapes harvested at -10 celsius then pressed while frozen and fermented in stainless steel tank.
